Allison Dougal

Prof. Alison Dougall

Professor and Consultant in Medically Compromised Patients at Dublin Dental Hospital, Ireland
Head of the Department of Child and Dental Public Health and Director of the Specialist Clinical Doctorate Programme in Special Care Dentistry at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland

In 2017 she was HMI Health Leader in Ireland for her work developing oral care pathways for people with inherited long term conditions and in 2021 was awarded the John Tomes Gold Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the International Impact of her work.

She is the Past President of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health and is on the Medical Advisory Board of the European Haemophilia Consortium focusing on oral health for people with bleeding disorders. As a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry she has worked as a specialist clinician embedded in a number of multi disciplinary teams and been teaching special care dentistry for over 20 years. As a recognised expert in education she led an International Consensus Group who developed curricula for teaching SCD at undergrad and postgrad levels and has been the Oral health lead in a number of Internationally Recognised Guideline documents.

She is a passionate advocate for better oral health for people with disabilities through education of workforce, universal access to high quality care and inclusive research.

Mili Doshi

Ms. Mili Doshi

Mili Doshi received her BDS (Hons) from Guys, Kings and St Thomas’ Dental Institute, London, in 2001 and went on to gain Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS), Royal College of Surgeons of England, in 2003. She completed an MSc in Sedation and Special Care, with Distinction, at Kings College London in 2007.

Since 2014 she has worked as a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry with Surrey and Sussex NHS Health Care Trust and the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, prior to which she was Senior Dental Officer with Bart’s Health Community Dental Service (formerly Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust). From 2015 to 2019, she was also Clinical Lead for the Health Education England programme 'Mouth Care Matters', which aims to improve the oral health of hospitalised patients, and in 2018 received an MBE in recognition of her work. She was President of the British Society of Gerodontology in 2019. She is the author of a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals and is the editor of a book on the oral health of older people.

Susanne Krämer

Prof. Susanne Krämer

Head of the Area of Special Care Dentistry at University of Chile

Susanne Krämer, DDS, MSC SCD is the Head of the Area of Special Care Dentistry at University of Chile, where she lectures on Special Care Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry at graduate and undergraduate level.

She graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Chile in 2006, and studied a Master in Special Care Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute, London from 2007-2009.

Her main area of interest is the care of patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa, as well as patients with Autism and Cerebral Palsy.

In the field of Epidermolysis Bullosa she published several articles, as well as led the development of International Guidelines on Oral Health Care for patients with EB in 2012 and 2020.

In April 2019 she joined the Scientific Committee of the IADH, international Association of Disability and Oral Health, with the vision of promoting the best quality care for patients with disabilities worldwide.

Professor Special Care in Dentistry – Antwerp University Hospital, Belgium

Prof. Luc Marks DDS, MSc, PhD, FiADH(Hon) is pediatric dentist and Professor Special care in dentistry at Antwerp University Hospital, University of Antwerp, Belgium and guest researcher at Ghent University (Belgium). Until 2022, he was head and chair of the Dental and Oral Hygienist School University Medical Center Groningen and director of Education (dentistry) at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). Major research interests are the treatment of Special Care patients including epidemiology and ethics. He published over 100 international peer reviewed papers/ book chapters and was promotor of several PhD dissertations in the oral health/dental field. The research and clinical efforts led to different awards: several clinical research awards at meetings worldwide and the Golisano Global Health Leadership award (Abu Dhabi –UAE 2019).
Prof. Marks is past-president of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health (iADH), member of scientific committee iADH, past treasurer of the European Academy of paediatric dentistry (EAPD), founding member and past president of the Belgian Academy of Paed. Dent. (BAPD), president-elect of the international dental ethics and law society (IDEALS) and regional clinical advisor Europe/Eurasia of the Special Olympics Special Smiles program.
Prof. Marks is appointed as International external examiner of Hong Kong University (PR China), reviewer of several impact factor journals in the dental field and the disability/ medically compromised field. He serves in the editorial board of Special Care in Dentistry and ACTA Stomotologica Croatica.

Associate Professor in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the Santiago de Compostela University, Spain

Jacobo Limeres Posse, DDS, PhD is associate professor in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the Santiago de Compostela University (USC).

He was Director of the Stomatology Department, Vicedean of Dental Studies and more reciently  Vice-chancellor for Quality of the USC. He coordinates the “Program for Dental care of severely handicapped patients” developed in the Special Needs Unit of the USC in collaboration with the Galician Healthcare Service. He is also co-director of the Postgraduate course “Master in Dentistry for Medically compromised patients” at the USC. Jacobo was the President of the Spanish Society of Special Care Dentistry between 2013 and 2017 and currently is the Chair of the Education Committee of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health (iADH).

Elena Pozzani, DDS, PHD qualified at the University of Verona with full marks and honours. In 2007 got a PHD in Special Care Dentistry, at the University of Bologna. In 2010 she specialized in Orthodontics, at the University of Padua. From 1998 she practises exclusively Special Care Dentistry, particularly in the fields of pedodontics, orthodontics and laser-dentistry. She is an active member of the Italian Society of Special Care Dentistry (SIOH) and author of many scientific articles. She is the Special Care Dentistry Department Manager of Ulss 9, Verona. She is also visiting professor at the University of Padua, in the dentistry under-graduate course and in many post-graduate courses in Italian Universities, always concerning to special care dentistry.
